Zenless Zone Zero won’t be Like other miHoYo’s Open World Game

Curious to know what awaits you in miHoYo’s latest creation?

Described as an action role-playing game set in an urban fantasy landscape, with a richly detailed world with japanese urban area, a diverse cast of characters, and a deep combat system.

The whole setting is New Eridu, a futuristic city devastated by supernatural calamities known as Hollows. These disasters materialize suddenly, unleashing chaotic dimensions inhabited by creatures called the Ethereal, resulting in the decimation of most of humanity. Players in the game will take on the role of a Proxy — a special professional who guides people in their exploration of Hollows.

As they advance, the Proxy will recruit new members to their part as they continue to fight the Ethereal. By combining the abilities of different members, players can deploy greater damage and combos onto enemies.

But what sets Zenless Zone Zero apart from its predecessors? For us, the game represents miHoYo’s ambitious foray into action-oriented gameplay. But, do not expect the game will be the same like other open-world mobile game, because this time, miHoYo and Cognosphere won’t do that.

The game will be more arcade or stage-based, than exploring to some area, kill monster and son on. Missions from NPC will be executed with the same type of mechanic, or delivered as a stage-based.

From what we got in beta, missions from NPC will be executed with this type of structure, or we can call it stage-based. While it’s a little different from other MiHoYo games, this stage-based game is commonly found in most gacha games.

We found that Zenless Zone Zero will be less explorable than Honkai: Star Rail. Since the mission is stage-based, exploring or encountering battles won’t take as much as exploring some areas. The mechanic of encountering monsters is more like a Snake and Ladder game. Not every step will trigger a battle. But only some of them.

Running missions on stage-based like this is kind of a Snake and Ladder game. We guide our agent (recruit) to the safest path, or instead, the most dangerous path, and face more monsters.

The beta test delivered a headquarter or gathering hub for players. It is still unknown if we can gather with other players in the hub. We can take missions, recruit agents, buy items on NPCs, and play any mini games. The city is vibrating with modern Japanese today.

As the countdown to Zenless Zone Zero’s release continues, excitement reaches fever pitch among gamers worldwide. With its tantalizing rewards, immersive gameplay, and the pedigree of miHoYo behind it, this is one gaming experience you won’t want to miss.

So, what are you waiting for? Take the first step towards adventure and pre-register for Zenless Zone Zero today.
