Ubisoft is not Done with Live-Service Shooter, Be Ready for XDefiant in May 21

Ubisoft is really not giving up on live-service shooter games after the failure of Hyper Scape. The game only lasted for 18 months after Ubisoft declared that it would discontinue its service. After that, they prepared another live-service shooters, but now based on their famous franchise, Tom’s Clancy: Division Heartlands and X-Defiant.

XDefiant is finally set to make its debut on May 21st, marking the end of a series of delays that have kept eager fans waiting. Originally unveiled in 2021 under the name Tom Clancy’s XDefiant, the game garnered attention for its unique blend of Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon, and The Division elements. However, Ubisoft faced criticism from loyal Tom Clancy fans, leading to the removal of the prefix. Despite setbacks, including missed launch windows and gameplay inconsistencies, XDefiant is now gearing up for release with a promising lineup of features and content.



The Delays Finally Over, Be Ready for May 21

After facing multiple delays throughout the previous year, Ubisoft has finally announced that XDefiant will hit the shelves on May 21st. This news comes as a relief to fans who have been eagerly anticipating the game’s release. The delays, while frustrating, have allowed the developers to refine and polish the gameplay experience, ensuring that XDefiant delivers on its promises.

XDefiant offers a fresh take on the Tom Clancy universe, combining elements from popular titles like Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon, and The Division. The result is a fast-paced, 6v6 shooter experience that promises to captivate players with its dynamic gameplay and strategic depth. From stealthy espionage missions to intense firefights, XDefiant offers something for every type of player.

The good news is, many shooter fans are eager to support Xdefiant. Some said if they are too tired of Call of Duty and Activision things, and need to leave the franchise. XDefiant will be a new challenger of shooter community.





What to Expect on Pre-Season

Ahead of its official launch, XDefiant will kick off with a six-week “preseason,” giving players a taste of what’s to come. During this period, players can dive into five exciting game modes across 14 unique maps. Additionally, XDefiant boasts an impressive arsenal of 24 weapons and 44 attachments, allowing players to customize their loadouts to suit their playstyle.

There are 5 game mode: Domination, Hot Shot, Occupy, Escort, and Zone Control. Most of the mode played by 6 vs 6.


One of the most exciting features of XDefiant is its inclusion of various factions from the Tom Clancy universe. Players can align themselves with factions like Libertad, Phantoms, Echelon, Cleaners, and Dedsec, each offering distinct playstyles and abilities. Whether you prefer stealthy covert ops or all-out warfare, there’s a faction for you in XDefiant.

Year 1 Road Map

Following the preseason, Ubisoft plans to roll out regular updates and seasonal content drops for XDefiant. Each season will introduce new maps, weapons, and factions, keeping the gameplay experience fresh and exciting for players. With a quarterly update schedule and a promise of ongoing support, XDefiant aims to establish itself as a mainstay in the competitive gaming scene.
